About Traxx Siberian Huskies
The first Siberian
Husky...
Tami's love affair with the Siberian Husky started with a rescue dog, "Silver",
in December 1991. After getting her "new dog", Tami decided
that she wanted to learn more about the breed. She went to the local
library to check out a book about our her new "family member".
The librarian informed her about a club that met there monthly - the Siberian
Husky Club of Tampa Bay, Inc. Tami began attending the meetings,
and joined a conformation class. Tami originally choose "Camelot
Siberians" as her kennel name. As you can see on the older dogs,
their names include "of Camelot" at the end. While attending
the Siberian
Husky Club of America's (SHCA's) National Specialty in Vermont,
it came to the attention of a friend that there was a kennel
in Texas (and there may still be) called "Camelot Siberians".
Tami obviously didn't want to use someone else's kennel name.
It was about that time that Tami was going to remarry. Since
she was going to change her last name, it seemed the appropriate
time to also change her kennel name. Many ideas were tossed around,
and finally "Traxx" was decided upon.
The name derives from the fact that Siberian Huskies are supposed move
in a "single track" at a trot, where their feet will
fall in a straight line under the centerline of the dog's body.
Since there was already a kennel named Traxler Siberians, Tami
tried to make her new kennel name different by using the two "x's" at
the end. The name was also chosen because it was relatively
short and would allow a longer registered name with the AKC.
